WEATHER Grace and Alexandra

by Josey Baker Go with the Flow

Interesting Facts  Water falls to the ground as rain. Some of the water soaks into the ground. The rest flows into streams, rivers and lakes.  Just like all scientists, hydrologists use evidence to answer their questions  Chris Cianfrani is a water Scientist Called a hydrologist.  Chris Cianfrani also helps College students learn science.

Words I learned  investiate-to study or try to learn about something. Page 5  Investigation-An attempt to find out about something. page 5  Hydrologist-A scientist who studies water. page 6  Runoff-The movement on liquid water. page 7  Precipatation-Liquid or solid Water that Falls to earth. Page 7

Connections  To Self… We both LOVE Water too.  To the world around us… I live in a forest with a creek.  To other stories...the setting in the story “the frog prince” is a pond.

By Jonathan curly illustrated by Joanne Renaud Tornado!

Interesting Facts  I learned about Lynn Burse the meteorologist. pages 3-9  A tornado is a very dangerous spinning tube. Pages  A Tornado once hit a school and lots of people got injured. Pages  Most of all we learned about Tornados. Pages 3-23

Words I learned  Meteorologist- a scientist who studies weather  Observation- information that you gather with your five senses  Affect- to change something  Object- a thing that can be seen or touched  Thermometer- a tool for measuring the temperature

Connections To what I already know… I don’t know because they aren’t in my area. To another story I read… In the little mermaid there is a thunderstorm which could cause a tornado. To the world around me… Tornados usually go in more of a rural area.
