REFEREES’ POSITIONING
Presentation transcript:

This is a Horizontal Stack which we will refer to as a Ho Stack. In this offence there are 4 Cutters Stacked in a Horizontal line across the field. Three Handlers control the disc waiting for an open cut from a Cutter.

The Thrower Dumps the disk The new thrower then Swings the disk As the Swing is thrown Cutters must act.

Here is an example of the expected movement as the swing is thrown. As the disc is thrown the cutters should be in motion so that by the time the handler has the disc there are open options. At this time player 5 has a few options to choose from. Either player 1 or 3 for a short pass or player 4 for a huck. (Player 2 would have to look over their shoulder making for a harder catch, so he should recognize this and clear for player 4.)

Lets say player 1 is open. Player 5 throws to player 1 and then immediately runs to get the disc back. Now player 1 just ran in to get the disc so he doesn’t know what is going on behind him. The handler running at him can already see down field and thus has the advantage. So ideally player 1 will Dish the disc back to the handler. Who will then be able to complete the next pass quickly.

As soon as player 5 threw to player 1, player 4 needs to bust deep in anticipation. Additionally the rest of the players need to move further down the field. After the Dish pass player 1 needs to clear to allow player 5 to complete the next pass. Player 5 has two viable up field options. Player 2 will be making an In Cut while player 4 is making an Out Cut.

Lets see how it would look if Player 4 has an open Deep Cut. Note that player 2 is an option as well. If player 4 isn’t in position yet a quick pass to player 2 and then back to 5 and finally player 4 is another option. If player 5 decides both player 4 and 2 are covered. The offence is already loosely set to try again. In this case player 5 would Dump Swing it back to player 7
