 Kaufmann Residence, a house designed by Wright in 1935 in rural southwestern Pennsylvania.  well-known for its connection to the site: it is built on top of an active waterfall which flows beneath the house.  interpenetrating exterior and interior spaces and a strong emphasis placed on harmony between man and nature.  integration with the setting extends even to small details. Examples: there are stairways leading directly down to the stream, below the house. And in a connecting space which transitions from the main house to the guest and servant level, a natural spring drips water inside, which is then channeled back out. The guest quarters feature a spring-fed swimming pool which overflows to the river below. A glass-encased interior staircase leads down from the living room and allows direct access to the rushing stream below.

 located on Cannery Row on the Pacific Ocean shoreline in Monterey, California.  high circulation of ocean water obtained through pipes that pump it in from Monterey Bay.  basic design of the aquarium pumps 2000 gallons per minute of Monterey Bay ocean water, night and day, through the more than 100 exhibit tanks.  During the day the water is filtered for viewing clarity. During the night, raw (unfiltered) seawater is pumped through exhibits, bringing in food in the form of plankton. Waste ocean water from the aquarium is returned to the Bay.

 large building situated on the south side of the Strand in central London, England, overlooking the River Thames.  originally river was not embanked and the Thames lapped the South Wing where three great arches allowed boats and barges to penetrate to landing places within the building.  in the winter the central courtyard is home to an open air ice rink. At other times an array of fountains display vertical jets of water rising to random heights.  courtyard is also used as a concert venue for a series of music events called the 'Summer series' held in July each year, as well as an annual summer season of outdoor film showings.
