AGENDA 1.Introduction 2.How the game works 3.Game 4.Debate questions

HOW THE GAME WORKS: Split Class in 8 groups 7 Questions about the readings will be asked using the bracket distribution to find a winner Each team should choose one representative for each question (no one can come twice from each group) As motivation: The person that gets a correct answer will get a full participation point The whole winning team will get full participation points Group 3 vs Group 4 Group 1 vs Group 2 Group 5 vs Group 6 Group 7 vs Group 8 Winner of group white vs. red Winner of group blue vs. yellow Winner of group pink vs. green

GAME -In class will play a game with 7 questions related to the readings -You will be put in groups -Try to volunteer in your group to answer the questions that way you can ensure points in the game and you can help your team win the full price!!! -If you don’t get a chance to participate in the game questions don’t worry. You will have chance to speak in the debate questions (which you have here in the next slides)

DEBATE QUESTIONS 1 After reading the article: “Goals gone wild : how goal setting can lead to disaster “ Do you think goals are a good way to motivate people? As a manager will you set goals to evaluate and motivate your employees? If so how would you do it? Discuss in your teams and report

DEBATE QUESTIONS 2 The “ ” article and the “Nucor article” both give different ways to motivate their employees. Both are very successful companies : -GE fires 10% of its bottom employees every year -Nucor doesn’t even through tough times. Which method would you use? And why?

After graduation (“with lots of debt”) you are faced with the following two options: a) A job where your values are not aligned and you are not fulfilled but you are getting a great salary b) A job you love and where your values are aligned and you are fulfilled but you are not making enough money Discuss with your group. Choose one option only. DEBATE QUESTIONS 3
