Pike Place History On August 17 th, 1907 Pike Place was born Seattle City Councilmen Thomas Revelle proposed a meeting place between farmers and shoppers, due to the high rising cost of onions and other vegetables 10,000 customers showed up to 1 st avenue and Pike street, by 11:00 am farmers were sold out By the end of the year, the first Pike Place market building opened with every space filled
