 The study of the chemical processes within a living organism

 In 1828, Friedrich Wöhler published a paper on the synthesis of urea, proving that organic compounds can be created artificially.

 Salaries can range depending on time worked and level of education. The range is from $40,000 - $140,000.

 The biochemistry of cell metabolism and the endocrine system also can be studied. Other areas of biochemistry include the genetic code (DNA, RNA), protein synthesis, cell membrane transport, and signal transduction.

 Biochemists have many potential roles within the scientific community, including working with agriculture, pharmaceutical industry and crime labs. An example is that they find new ways to diagnose and treat disease in humans including potentially creating anti-cancer agents and other for possible treatments for disease.
