Exercise Science Internships MOV credits

Internship – MOV Credits (pre-requisite – MOV 475) 300 – 600 hours ◦ hrs/week X 15 weeks ◦ No class time ◦ Course assignments ◦ Internship Fair – Final Presentation Setting of interest as approved by Internship Coordinator Needs to meet minimum expectations (as stated in intern manual) Permit required – given after site is secured and approved

Internship Search Start Early ◦ 1-2 semesters prior to starting Polish resume & interview skills Seek assistance from Career Services Determine your references Internship Manual– Take with you Know exactly what you are expected to learn/experience – the sites will ask ◦ Study the manual and review our Internship Website Date to secure ◦ November 1 st (winter semester) ◦ March 1 st (spring semester)

Site Approval Approved Sites ◦ Need to inform Professor Peddie of planned site New Site ◦ Need to provide Professor Peddie with contact information ◦ Need a plan/outline for experiences – written by site & student ◦ Need to provide supervisor credentials/experiences ◦ Professor Peddie must approve

Other Considerations Some sites may require the following: ◦ Immunizations/TB test ◦ Criminal Background Check ◦ Drug Screening ◦ Update CPR & First Aid Certifications ◦ Strength & Conditioning (some sites) will require CSCS certification to complete internship ◦ Flu Shot

FAQs Does the internship/fieldwork need to be within the semester dates? ◦ Yes for fieldwork ◦ Yes for internship, however 1-2 week early start will be acceptable. Can I complete my fieldwork and internship at the same site? ◦ Yes, however responsibilities must change with an internship and a plan must be presented Can I complete my fieldwork or internship where I currently work? ◦ In very rare cases, approval needed by Professor Peddie
