KS. What Gas makes up most of the Atmosphere?? WWK : Gasses that Make up the Atmosphere

NITROGEN! Nitrogen is the primary gas in the atmosphere. Nitrogen makes up 78% of the atmosphere by volume in dry air and is the therefore the most common gas in the atmosphere. In terms of life on Earth, nitrogen is a part of all plant and animal proteins. Nitrogen is important in nutrient cycles found in terrestrial ecosystems. Nitrogen is used by living organisms to produce a number of complex organic molecules like amino acids, proteins, and nucleic acids

Oxygen and Argon Argon Is an Oder-less colorless gass that is made as a result of oxygen and nitrogen production!!! ARGON ONLY TAKES UP 1% OF THE ATMOSPHERE ;))))))))!!!!!!!!! Oxygen is 20.9 % (almost 21%) of earths atmosphere Half a billion years ago the percentage was higher (in the mid-30s) due to abundant plant life. Before photosynthesis evolved, atmospheric oxygen was close to zero & poisonous to the earliest cells on earth

Layers of the Atmosphere Clouds Form in The TROPOSPHERE!

Atmosphere TO HAVE AN ATMOSPHERE YOU MUST HAVE !!!!!!!!!! Oxygen!!!!!!!!!!! Water!!!!!!!!!!! GRAVITY!!!!!!!!!!! Waterr vapor is not technically a gas, It is a major player in the atmosphere. It transfers earths heat energy, Generates precipitaion (rain, snow, fog) to produce fresh water for animal and plant life. It is one of the factors producing an earth warming greenhouse affect

KS. Human Activity has been linked with the increase of what Gases? WWK: Impact of Humans On the Atmosphere

People effect the Atmosphere all the time! The problems begin when human activities distort and accelerate the natural process by creating more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere than are necessary to warm the planet to an ideal temperature. Burning natural gas, coal and oil-including gasoline for automobile engines-raises the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Some farming practices and land-use changes increase the levels of methane and nitrous oxide. Many factories produce long-lasting industrial gasesthat do not occur naturally, yet contribute significantly to the enhanced greenhouse effect and "global warming" that is currently under way Ultimately, more greenhouse gases means more infrared radiation trapped and held, which gradually increases the temperature of the Earth's surface and the air in the lower atmosphere.!!!!!

How has the Atmosphere changed The atmosphere originally formed from out gassing from volcanic activity. There was no oxygen in the atmosphere until 2.2 Billion years ago. When cyanobacteria started to photosynthesise. Oxygen levels further increased with the evolution of large trees.

How does the Atmosphere effect humans Natural disasters come in many ways shapes and forms They affect Humans.!!!!

How Has Pollution Changed the Atmosphere? WWK. Pollution effects on the atmosphere

What is Pollution? Pollution is the introduction of a contaminant into the environment. It is created mostly by human actions, but can also be a result of natural disasters. Pollution has a detrimental effect on any living organism in an environment, making it virtually impossible to sustain life. There is water pollution, Air pollution, many different types of pollution. HUMANS BURN FOSSIL FUELS WHICH MAKES MORE GREENHOUSE GASSES!!!!

Hole in the ozone layer If there is a hole in the ozone layer then this means that more harmful ultra-violet rays get through than are good for us or many other life forms, plant or animal. Too much ultra-violet light can result in: Eye damage such as cataracts Immune system damage Reduction in phytoplankton in the oceans that forms the basis of all marine food chains including those in Antarctica. Damage to the DNA in various life-forms So far this has been as observed in Antarctic ice-fish that lack pigments to shield them from the ultra-violet light (they've never needed them before) Probably other things too that we don't know about at the moment. Skin cancer

Take this time to watch the air pollution video

What is the Difference between Climate and Weather? WWK How Different climates effect the weather

Climate and weather Weather reflects short-term conditions of the atmosphere while climate is the average daily weather for an extended period of time at a certain location!!!!!! Weather is more day to day, Climate relates to the location as well.

Reason weather is different in some places Location to the equator! Humidity Levels! How close to water the place is! HUMANS ARE THE BIGEST CONTRIBUTER TO CLIMATE CHANGE!!!

What are Natural Disasters? WWK: Structure of Tornados and Hurricans

Tornados! A tornado is a rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. Tornadoes are capable of 250 MPH wind speeds, cutting a swath of destruction in excess of one mile width and dozens of miles in length.

What causes tornados When warm southern winds try to rise, the cold northern air blocks them. They hit each other, causing the warm trapped air to rotate horizontally between the two. The sun warms the earth below, and more warm air continues to rise. It finally pushes it's way through the colder air. The cold air then begins to sink and it sends the warm air spinning upward. The warm air spins faster and faster and eventually a funnel cloud forms and touches the ground. It's not quite a tornado until it makes landfall. Tornados occur the most in NORTH AMERICAAAA!!!

Huricans Hurricanes form over warm water. A tropical wave of westward moving low air pressure. The warm moist air over the ocean rises from the low pressure area and cold air from above replaces it. This starts the strong gusty winds and heavy rain. HURICANS ARE USUALLY ABOUT 300 Miles WIDE!!!!!

K.S What is The science of weather WWK:How Has predicting weather changed over time?

What is a meteorologist? Meteorology is the science that studies atmopheric phenomena, especially those that relate to weather. Meteorolgists who forecast the weather rely on thousands of weather stations located around the world, both on land and at sea The study of weather is known as meteorolgy!!!!!

First weather Forcasting Babylonians in 650 AD were the First to Forecast and attempt to Predict weather

Most important invention in weather forcasting Satellites help weather forecasters see storms before they hit land and help save many peoples Lives.
