Móstoles is an industrial town near Madrid, and its population is over inhabitants
The town has all kind of services like hospitals, a University, schools, shopping centres, theatres, museums, libraries, a railway station, a subway…
The Art Center “Dos de mayo” is a very important museum in the region of Madrid. It was inaugurated in May 2008 by the Kings of Spain. In this museum there are many different exhibitions throughout the year.
Other cultural buildings in Móstoles are the conservatoire “Rodolfo Halffter” and the public library.
Some of the most famous monuments are: “ La fuente de los peces” “Ermita de Nª Sª de los Santos”
In Móstoles there are a lot of parks and garden areas.
Móstoles is also know in Spain as the first town that rebelled against the French Army in the Independence War in 1808.
A few decades ago, the town was very different from today. In the 1960s, Móstoles was a small village. But in a few years´ time, the town has grown a lot due to rural immigration from other Spanish cities.
Iker Casillas is the most famous person from Móstoles. He is Real Madrid´s goalkeeper and the captain of the Spanish football team.
