eLearning Lead Teachers: A Professional Development Model Six teachers across a range of curriculum areas who teach a range of levels Each of the teachers are to work with at least one other teacher from their department in a mentoring role to trial and evaluate any new uses of digital technology in the classroom

PD is always on the topics/units being taught at the time – action research model with a focus Visit other schools, attend conferences, share and collaborate with other teachers, facilitate in- house professional learning Term 3, 2009Term 1, 2010 Questioning using collaborative tools Capturing the ‘learning conversation’

Innovation in the Classroom Teachers and Students, for two terms at a time Interactive White Board – will it work for us? Learning Management System – does this meet our needs for now and in the future? Voice Recognition – will this help with special needs in our school

Staff Meetings Twice a term, addressing the whole staff Teachers showing student examples use of ICT in action –teaching and learning in action Comparisons made in relation to student engagement and achievement

Staff Wide Once a term A wide range of useful web sites (Interface Magazine, etc) Made a point of not too often

Search Engines are changing how they present their results and how you can save and share what you find: Share your web site visits with others: See what I am Bookmarking; my account name on Delicious skcallenj Needing pictures: Something for Science and Mathematics – making data useful: (good for social sciences too) Quote Site: Better than word of the week: News and views: ws – more Middle School Here are a few sites that are making waves in and out of SKC:- I am hoping people will find something that interests them, don’t feel you need to visit all of the sites

Staff Workshops Set by the need or opportunity identified – offered to whole staff and/or department specific Not compulsory - very hands on (Plain English video tutorials)video tutorials Two times on offer in the same week or fortnight e.g. Fri morning and Wed afternoon

Teacher Only Day Needs & opportunities identified by HoDs/SMT Options are important – focus on teaching and learning Emphasis on exploring, creating and evaluating – sharing of student examples high priority
