Anna Eleanor Roosevelt “First Lady of the World” “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Eleanor Roosevelt

 Born in New York City on October 11,  Her father was President Theodore Roosevelt’s brother.  Both her parents died when she was little.  After her mother died, Eleanor lived with her grandmother, Mrs. Valentine G. Hall, in Tivoli, New York.  She went to school in England and France where she learned to help others.

 Eleanor Roosevelt married her fifth cousin Franklin Delano Roosevelt on March 17, She married a future President.  She had six kids, Franklin Jr died as a baby.  She was a teacher. She also worked with the American Red Cross.  After Franklin Roosevelt got polio in 1921, she helped him by doing speeches for him and getting involved in political groups.

 When Eleanor was in the White House, she was a busy First Lady.  She traveled a lot around our country and the world and visited the poor people.  She wrote books and newspaper and magazine articles.  She gave speeches and was on the radio and TV.  She worked hard to help the poor and the under privileged.  She was smart and cared about people.
