Intolerance of Sin Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Psalm 119:104
WHY DO WE NOT TOLERATE SIN? 1.God does not tolerate sin. 2.Ignoring sin is not in our best interest. 3.We appreciate God’s love and Christ’s sacrifice.
God Does Not Tolerate Sin to be true children of God, our attitude towards sin must match our Father’s (1 Jn. 3:1-4) God’s just wrath is the end result of sin in the Garden (Gen. 2:16-17; 3:24) the Great Flood (Gen. 6:5-7) but take note of God’s grace (v.8) Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 18:20-21) world is now reserved for judgment (2 Thess. 1:6-10) in summary: sin = death (Rom. 6:23)
Ignoring Sin Leads to Death our Creator knows best the path towards life (Jer. 10:23)(Ps. 119:105) His word directs us in that path away from foolish, destructive decisions (Prov. 7:24- 27)(Eph. 6:1-3)(Rom. 12:19-21) away from sinful influences (1 Cor. 15:33)(Eph. 5:1-11) towards peace, hope, and eternal life (Mt. 7:13-15)
Appreciating Christ’s Sacrifice God’s attitude towards sin is most seen in the price He paid in order to secure our salvation (Jn. 3:16-17)(1 Cor. 6:19-20) to tolerate sin would be to ignore Jesus’ sacrifice despising His salvation (Heb. 10:26-31) a Christian is compelled by His love (2 Cor. 5:14-15) a Christian also understands that all need to know the love of Christ, and their sin for which He died (Rom. 1:14-18)
Conclusion we live in a world where tolerance rules supreme unfortunately, intolerance does bear consequences however, God’s word is clear and eternal 2Cr 6: Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." 18 "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty."
