GCOOS EOC Homework June 2011 Part I: Review the GCOOS web pages for boaters and fishermen (note: if you are participating in the electronic version of the survey, please skip to Part II of the homework). Part II: Identify water quality and/or Ecosystem Integration and Assessment data sources for the Coastal Ecosystem Learning Center interactive exhibits.

Part I GCOOS web pages for boaters Please visit: The pages you see are the result of your work and the talent of Dr. Shin Kobara. He incorporated our input from last year’s EOC meeting, along with feedback from boaters and fishermen who participated in two GCOOS Stakeholder workshops.

Assignment: Explore the tabs below the map LEFT SIDE TABS Observations – Check the boxes to select/deselect parameters. Forecasts – Explore the four “sub” tabs under this (wave height, wind, current, precipitation). Warnings Miscellaneous RIGHT SIDE TABS NWS Forecast – You will be prompted to select an area on the map before a forecast appears. Tide Forecasts – Same as with NWS Forecast. Team Assignments IDENTIFY DATA SOURCES THAT CAN BE USED IN THE COASTAL ECOSYSTEM LEARNING CENTER EXHIBITS. ID at least three data sources that support your team’s priority issue. List both the url and the type of information that is provided.
