Ender Andrew “Ender” Wiggin feels out of place because he is a Third. He can be extremely violent and ruthless, yet he also possesses great compassion and understanding. Due to those conflicting qualities, Ender struggles with his identity and worries he is just like his older brother. Go back menu continue

Peter Peter is incredibly smart but also incredibly violent. He seems to lack self-control and compassion. He manipulates everyone. Under a pseudonym, he engages in political persuasion which eventually leads him to become Hegemon, ruler of the world. Go back menu continue

Valentine Valentine is caring and compassionate. She cares for and protects Ender. She must convince Ender to keep going when he wants to leave Battle School. She also engages in political persuasion with Peter. Go back menu continue

Mazer Rackham Mazer Rackham was the hero of the last Bugger War. He becomes Ender’s final teacher. He can be very cruel to Ender. Many of the lessons he teaches Ender are accomplished with physical violence. He tricks Ender into believing the final battles are only games. Go back menu continue

Bean Bean is very small, but he is very much like Ender. He is very smart and helps Ender come up with ways to win the games, even when the odds are stacked heavily against them. He is one of Ender’s commanders during the final battle. Go back menu continue
