Renewable Energy Research and Education: A Mission To Balance Economy and Environment Peter Ping Liu, Ph D, PE, OCP, CQE and CSTM Professor and Coordinator of Graduate Study School of Technology Center of Clean Energy Research and Education Eastern Illinois University

The Earth seems to be endless. Its resources seems to be unlimited. It still exists next morning when we wake up. “2012” seems be just a non-scientific prophecy. But, slowly, and perhaps, unnoticeably, something is happening.

Carbon dioxide is a major permanent green house gas.

This Sept. 7, 2010 picture provided by the U.S. Geological Survey shows a walrus calf looking out from the group at the beach line near Point Lay, Alaska. Tens of thousands of walruses have come ashore in northwest Alaska because the sea ice they normally rest on has melted. Federal scientists say this massive move to shore by walruses is unusual in the United States. (AP Photo/U.S. Geological Survey) Source: J662aFRwD9I7A3J00?index=0

University’s Vision: Integrated Learning of Sustainability and Biomass Energy

Center of Clean Energy Research and Education (COCERE) Create and provide opportunities for faculty, students and staff engaged in study of clean energy.

Center of Clean Energy Research and Education (COCERE) Stake Holders: Facility Management (Renewable Energy Center). Various academic departments or schools, including biological sciences, chemistry, geology, physics, and technology. Students and student organizations.

“…We should be among the first universities to have a research biomass gasifier and commercial biomass gasifier availability for biomass fuel gasification analysis.” --President William Perry (State of University Address, September 1, 2010)

Sky is the limit.
