Carol Pearson GCU TEC 591 November 22, 2011

 According to Klingensmith (2009), it is “the entire collection of people whom you engage and exchange information, usually online”.  It is usually abbreviated.

 Personal network  Professional subject matter experts  Professional resources  Continued learning with educational technology

 This involves people you have personal access to. My personal network consists of the following people: My husband-techie extraordinaire Eileen D.- Peer Tutor & colleague Kathy S.-Computer teacher & friend Veronica R.-Spanish teacher and friend Susan K.-Special Education Teacher, friend, & my technology “guinea pig”

 The experts may be colleagues or people you never met. They assist you with up to date technology that enhances your subject. Here are my experts: Kelly L.- Media Specialist Maria B.- Spanish teacher, friend, & workshop presenter Rita T.-English/World Language Dept. Chair Janelle M.- Technology coordinator & GCU classmate

 Professional resources may include technical and subject matter materials in print or online. Here are my choices. ETTC: (Educational Technology Training Center) Specialized technology training for PD hours Resources for Spanish and other subjects

I plan to continue learning about various educational technology. This will be a life long process. Here are some areas of interest for me.  Podcasts  Windows Movie Maker  Blogs  Web Sites  Wikis

 According to Lorrie Jackson (n.d.), “a podcast is simply an audio -- and sometimes a video -- recording made available online”.

 Movie Maker allows the user to create movies and slide shows on their computer. It is a great tool for someone new to digital video editing.

 According to Dictionary.com (n.d.), a blog is “a Web site where an individual or group posts their own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other Web sites”.

 The American Heritage Science Dictionary (n.d.)defines it as “A set of interconnected web pages, usually including a homepage, generally located on the same server, and prepared and maintained as a collection of information by a person, group, or organization”.

 It’s a Website that allows authorized users and visitors to view, add, correct, or change information in the specified space.
