Team Six-Pack Launch Readiness Review Calder Lane, Courtney Ballard, Ian Thom, Thomas Green, Matt Cirbo, Janelle Montoya 11/1/11 Fall 2011 Rev A
Mission Overview BalloonSat Helios measures the efficiency of wireless energy transmission using a laser and solar panels.
Design Overview Two Foam Core Structures Top Circuit: Nine solar panels 3.3 volt Li-ion 50 mW red laser Bottom Circuit: One solar panel Attopilot current and voltage sensor Arduino Uno and SD shield.
Cold Test 1 2 3
Sun-Laser Comparison Test 2 3 1
HOBO Test
Camera Test Camera worked, took over 600 pictures in two hours.
Whip and Drag Tests Whipped at about a two foot length to simulate flight string motion. Satellite dragged as a more accurate test of the satellite’s predicted landing behavior.
Drop Test Satellite dropped from second story to attain a speed of about 20 m/s.
Expected Results Cold test: More voltage as fog cleared –More laser light hitting panel Expect similar results on flight –Less atmosphere means better transmission.
Biggest Worries Resolving amperage issue Final assembly
