Jupitor’s wife (Zeus) Goddess of light and childbirth Focus on maternal side of childbirth Ceres and Juno Ceres’ daughter, Proserpina, was capture by Pluto (Hades) and taken to the underworld to be Pluto’s wife. Ceres asks Juno to help. Juno will help bring her back as long as Proserpina ate nothing while in the underworld. She did eat something. Juno struck a deal – ½ year Proserpina needed to stay in underworld and ½ she may live on Earth. Explains seasons.
