Earth Science With Mrs. Locke

This year! A general overview O All about Earth and Space this year! O We do a lot of labs, group work, art project, notes, and drawings

O Students are expected to come in and start on opening work, O checked daily O worth extra credit O Timed O Class rules and consequences O On the website and front of room O In the students ISN O They are typical rules for a class

O Must have a composition book O Notes, opening activities, vocabulary list, and most work will be in the composition book. O Students are going to need glue and colors to keep it up to date. O They are graded periodically throughout the semester.

Homework O Is posted on the web weekly O Is generally assigned Mondays and due Friday O There is homework most weeks O Most homework will be a handout related to what we are covering in class that week. O Should involve some regular studying and review of the notes

Textbook O There is an online version. O It is linked to the web site for class O Login information is on the syllabus

Science Fair O This year students will not be required to complete the science fair due to my absence. O I will help anyone really interested in participating on an individual basis upon my return. O The time to work on the fair is from Oct. through early Jan.

Ways to help your 6 th grader be successful: O Make sure they have the materials they need for class everyday O Check their agenda O Offer rewards or consequences for having information written in the agenda O Ask to see the completed work (all graded work is returned) O Have them explain how they got an answer rather then just telling you the answer. O Make vocabulary flash cards to review with them O Quiz them over their notes O Read and discuss current events with them O Have them read; it doesn’t matter what they read, they just need to read. O Have them read aloud to you
