What's cold about the cold war? The Nuclear Age

The goal was to let these countries be governed by After World War II, The Allies set up temporary governments in several countries. The goal was to let these countries be governed by Allied military forces.

2. The U.S.S.R./ stalin did not give up control of the countries in eastern Europe, as promised.

3. The countries that did not gain their independence, but were controlled by the U.S.S.R. were Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Poland, and Yugoslavia.

4. In 1946, Winston Churchill gave a speech that is often used to mark the beginning of the Cold War, in which he said “an iron curtain has descended across the continent.”

5. By Iron Curtain, he meant Europe’s division between democratic Western Europe and Communist Eastern Europe.
