These are the steps to protein synthesis. Include the name of the process, the location and the enzymes involved.
Tra nscription (in the nucleus) – RNA polymerase binds to promoter then “unzips” the DNA. Next, the enzyme adds RNA nucleotides to the make an mRNA strand. Once RNA polymerase reaches the STOP codon it releases. Then, mRNA needs to get a poly tail and cap before moving out to the cytoplasm. Translation (on a ribosome in the cytoplasm) – First, two ribosomal subunits bind together to make the protein factory. Next, the mRNA slides through the ribosome and once the start codon is found the translation begins. The tRNA molecule transfers amino acids to the ribosome based on the codon sequence given by mRNA. Once the tRNA reaches the STOP codon, then tRNA releases and ribosomal subunits break down.
