London riots Historically, there is a history of public rioting in London. It happened in 1981, 1985 and It happened again in the summer of A huge amount of damage was done in each set of riots. People were shocked at the violence, and lives were endangered or even lost each time. Public reports were written into the riots, exploring the causes.

Scenario There appears to be strong public reaction against rioting and demands for strong penalties for those caught offending. I’ve been caught taking part in a riot, and have been told that my future career will be affected by a crime conviction. My family are devastated. How will they be able to face their wealthy circle of friends?

Write short report (one side of A4) outlining possible causes for the offender’s behaviour. Suggest a possible appropriate response from the magistrate’s court.
