THE DIALOGUE PROCESS PURPOSE, GUIDELINES, STRUCTURE

PURPOSE The Dialogue Process is the means by which “we collectively derive meaning and plans for forward movement through mutual understanding and acceptance of diverse points of view.”

GUIDELINES 1.Listen o Listen with the expectation that everyone has something valuable to contribute and are here because they, too, care about EBR Public Schools. 2.Speak openly and honestly. 3.Listen to the diverse points of view. o Everyone’s comment has merit. 4.Free yourself from a rigid mindset. o Stand back and respond rather than reacting automatically or defensively.

STRUCTURE The Dialogue will last 90 minutes. Each group has a trained facilitator and a scribe. The Scribes will keep key notes on the conversation. Reminder: participant’s names will not be used in the report. The Facilitator will introduce the topic questions, keep the conversation focused, and help you process your concerns.

STRUCTURE THREE TOPICS minutes each) : Your response to the facts presented Your experience with and understanding of our schools Your recommendations

STRUCTURE THE SHARE BACK Each group will determine the top item from your discussion. The facilitator will present this to the whole group.

What happens with the information? Categorized and prioritized by core group and expert evaluators Results will be reported back to you & public at large Appropriate organizations will be engaged to address issues raised

What happens with the information? “It’s an answer that’s still developing. The solutions will emerge from the discussions.” --Anna Fogle
