#helpinghands What is Child Sexual Exploitation? This is a form of child abuse that manipulates and coerces young people under 18 Carried out by people who have power over children or young people They use the power they have to control and sexually abuse the children and young people It’s common for victims to not recognise they are being abused If you see something… say something!

What is Grooming? This is the process where an abuser befriends and prepares a victim in order to later exploit them There are different stages to the process and it can be difficult to identify this is happening #helpinghands

Did you Know? Child sexual exploitation does happen across County Durham and Darlington Research tells us that there is not one type of abuser #helpinghands Despite media coverage the majority of children and young people exploited are not looked after CSE can happen to both genders, boys and young men are just as likely to be targeted as victims as females
