2015-16 Proposals Governor Wolf proposes three new programs for PHEAA to fund: Dual Enrollment STEM Scholarship Primary Care Physician Loan Forgiveness

2015-16 Proposals 6.6% state sales tax on text books 6.6% state sales tax on student fees Meal plans Student activity fees Technology fees Other non-tuition fees Tuition and room charges not included Effective January 1, 2016, if approved

2015-16 State Grant Program 2015-16 Early Estimator released in February SGAC meets April 9 Formula set on April 23 by PHEAA Board of Directors Conditional awards announced May 1 Final awards announced with budget passage

2015-16 Cost on the Web Released to schools on March 16 Due to PHEAA on April 15 Provide room and board amounts for statistical purposes.

2014-15 State Grant Reminder: April 1st Student Reconciliation Deadline Generally, reinstatement or reconsideration of 2014-15 State Grant awards that result in increased awards are NOT permitted if requests are received after April 1, 2015, or 35 days after the Agency’s last request for information for the 2014-15 Academic Year.

2015 Summer SG Awards 2015 Summer State Grant application available March 16 Deadline for submission is August 15, 2015 Schools do not have to participate in the Summer State Grant Program.

2015 Summer State Grant “SUMMER STUDENT GRANT APPL” is weekly PageCenter report of students filing a 2015 Summer application for your school Initial report available March 16 and ends mid- September. List is cumulative and alphabetical: asterisk identifies new students

2015 Summer State Grant At the school’s request, PHEAA will send email messages to students informing them of availability of the Summer SG application.

2015 Summer State Grant All institutions must submit a Pre- Disbursement Roster Institutions receive a percentage reduction on disbursements based on past 3 year fund utilization history. New for 2015, if number of 2014 Summer awards less than 15 students, 100% of funds will be disbursed.

2016 Summer State Grant If an institution chooses not to participate in the Summer SG Program: Send letter between December 1, 2015 and January 31, 2016 Reaffirm on 2016-17 COTW This is universal for all students in all programs.

2016-17 State Grant Completed Master Agreement and Schedule A for the State Grant Program are due in November 2015 for 2016-17 program participation. Reject F – school not approved for the State Grant Program – will result without appropriate forms on file

SG Distance Education Pilot Institutional applications for new schools that would like to participate available in May and due July 15, 2015 Summer awards are available for 2015. 2014-15 AY Reconciliation Rosters available April 1 and due June 1.

Ready to Succeed Scholarship New program for 2014-15 Eligibility Requirements: Annual family income not to exceed $110,000 Meet all State Grant Program eligibility requirements with the exception of financial need Achievement of second year status Earned a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.25 Full-time award cannot exceed $2,000 in combination with the State Grant award.

Ready to Succeed Scholarship 63,847 students meet the income guidelines and did not have a SG over the tolerance levels.

Ready to Succeed Scholarship PHEAA will be cancelling a specific selection of uncertified RTSS awards on May 29, 2015. These cancelled awards will be those that have been available for certification for at least 60 days as of May 29, 2015, but have remained uncertified for any reason. Funds generated through this award cancellation process will be returned to the RTSS allocation and then awarded to other eligible students via an eligibility run tentatively scheduled for June 1, 2015.

2014-15 PA-TIP For 2014-15 the student application submission deadline is extended to May 1, 2015

2015-16 PA-TIP Institutional applications for 2015-16 available May 2015 Institutional applications due December 31, 2015

FWSP-ON and CS The 2014-15 FWS-ON and/or CS Year-End Reports will be available via the PageCenter mailbox. The deadline to submit the Year-End Report(s) to PHEAA is August 1, 2015.

2015 Summer SWSP Employer Renewal Form due June 30 Work dates: May 10 through August 15 Student summer applications due June 30 Maximum SWSP summer award is $4,000 Employer reimbursement is either 30% (for- profits) or 40% (non-profits) of the student’s earnings up to this amount 40% of $4,000 = $1,600 30% of $4,000 = $1,200

2015-16 SWSP The employer must submit either the online SWSP student application or the completed SWSP Student Application/Placement Form to PHEAA on or before the following application filing deadline dates: 2015-16 AY or Fall Term Only: November 1, 2015 2015-16 Spring Term Only: March 1, 2016 2016 Summer Term: June 30, 2016
