Child hood Jean Batten was born September in Rotorua If jean batten was still alive she would be 106 Jean batten lived in Rotorua for 4 years before moving to Auckland In 1917 her father Frederick joined NZ Expeditionary force and was sent to the western front due two his lack of earnings this caused Jean to move from Melmerley ladies school to a state school following Fredericks return her parents split in 1920
