VSC - Overview Virtualized storage resources From multiple arrays, vendors and data centers – pooled together and accessed anywhere Standardised storage services Selected from a service catalog Mobility of storage volumes Move on the fly based on workload balancing policies Self-service provisioning Using advanced analytics and automation to allocate capacity in the most appropriate fashion Paid per use storage resources End users are aware of the impact of their consumption, service level choices Sweat existing assets, increase utilisation and widen vendor choice on hardware purchases Storage admins Application owners End users IT staff Less error prone, fewer configurations to support – fewer specialist skills and knowledge required Balance performance over infrastructure, minimise the use of high performance/cost disk Improve speed and precision of storage allocation; provide a self-service framework Link storage usage directly to those that consume, on a by tier basis; charge/show back

VSC for Storwize Family IBM SmartCloud Virtual Storage Center Entry Offerings Product Structures VSC Entry Must run with SVC 2145 virtualization engines (hardware) Single per TB license to include: SVC v7.1 Virtualization SVC v7.1 FlashCopy SVC v7.1 Remote Mirroring TPC v5.2 FCM v4.1 Storage Analytics Engine Limited to 250 TB’s of managed capacity and 2 I/O groups (2 pairs of SVC nodes) VSC for Storwize Family Must run with Storwize V7000 or V5000 virtualization engines (hardware) NOTE: This license does not replace the need to purchase the Storwize base virtualization license (5639-VM7) with every Storwize enclosure This license must be purchased for every (internal and external*) storage enclosure Single per enclosure license for all internal and external* storage enclosures to include: Storwize v7.1 External Virtualization Storwize v7.1 FlashCopy (in base license) Storwize v7.1 Remote Mirroring TPC v5.2 FCM v4.1 Storage Analytics Engine No limit to the number of enclosures this can be applied to. * How to count external enclosures: Link to external VSC wiki

IBM SmartCloud Virtual Storage Center Entry Offerings Primary Routes to Market VSC Entry Priced and packaged to enable Channel Partners to increase velocity of VSC sales Specifically focused on new client acquisition; no conversions or trade-ups offered for existing customers No conversions or tradeups are offered for VSC Entry customers to VSC or VSC For Storwize Family at this time Validate the storage software model of delivering common advanced services to heterogeneous infrastructures in mid-market segment One per customer – multiples are not allowed, even for multiple data centers VSC Entry management software must run on a separate server from VSC or VSC for Storwize Family management servers VSC for Storwize Family Priced and packaged to enable Channel Partners and direct sellers to increase velocity of VSC sales Designed to help improve administrative efficiency, manage complexity, and improve ROI on hardware purchase Positioned for larger mid-range customers with 3 or more Storwize enclosures on Storwize V7000 platform; average Storwize V7000 configuration is ~1.2 enclosures Unlimited number of enclosures may be sold to a customer VSC for Storwize Family management software may run on the same server as VSC

Scenario 1 – VSC Entry The client wants to manage a storage environment that requires SAN Volume Controller split cluster. The environment includes: A Storwize V7000 System of eight total enclosures providing 80 TB of usable storage capacity An IBM XIV System with 50 TB of usable storage capacity A Storwize V3700 System of three total enclosures with 10 TB of usable storage capacity The client can operate this environment using two SVC nodes (one I/O group), sold separately, and needs SmartCloud Virtual Storage Center Entry entitlement for the total amount of usable storage capacity of 140 TB. A managed capacity of 140 TB leaves 110 TB of growth for this customer

Scenario 2 – VSC for Storwize Family The client wants to manage a storage environment with Storwize V7000 as the storage virtualization engine that consists of the following: A clustered Storwize V7000 System of eight total enclosures (including two control enclosures) with 80 TB of usable storage capacity A seven-enclosure IBM XIV System with 100 TB of usable storage capacity A Storwize V3700 System of three total enclosures providing 20 TB of usable storage capacity For a total of 18 storage enclosures The client can operate this environment using the eight-enclosure Storwize V7000 system with eight base virtualization licenses (5639-VM7) for those enclosures (sold separately) The customer also needs SmartCloud Virtual Storage Center for Storwize Family licenses for a total of 18 enclosures (8 Storwize V7000 enclosures + 7 XIV enclosures + 3 Storwize V3700 enclosures) of managed storage capacity.

Scenario 3 – VSC for Storwize Family The client wants to manage a storage environment with Storwize V5000 as the storage virtualization engine that consists of the following: A clustered Storwize V5000 System of two control enclosures and three expansion enclosures Two external, non-IBM storage enclosures for a total of seven storage enclosures In addition to the five Storwize Family Software for Storwize V5000 (5639-ST7) licenses (sold separately) The customer also needs SmartCloud Virtual Storage Center for Storwize Family licenses for a total of 7 enclosures (5 Storwize V5000 enclosures + 2 external, non-IBM storage enclosures) of managed storage capacity.
