By Thais Pizarro. Igneous rocks are formed when melted rock (lava) cools and hardens. Metamorphic rocks form deep inside the Earth when rocks are put.

The Rock Cycle. Basics Continual process that breaks down, alters, and re-forms rock into one of three types Types of rock can be converted to other types.
The Rock Cycle. How can this be a cycle? What rock forms when magma cools? –igneous rock How is sedimentary rock formed? –pressure and cementing of sediment.

The Rock Cycle: There are many different things that can happen to a rock that will change it into a different type of rock. Ex. Weathering/erosion/compaction/cementation.
Rocks A solid material made up of 1 or more minerals, or other things – including the remains of once-living things.

Rocks come in 3 different forms: sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. The type of rock depends on the way they were made. The way rocks are formed go.

Types of Rock and Their Formation. Sedimentary Rock Formation: Layers of sediment are deposited at the bottom of seas and lakes. Over millions of years.
Rock Cycle A model that shows how rocks are created and changed from one type to another.
ROCKS!. Rocks There are 3 rock types: - Sedimentary - Igneous - Metamorphic -All 3 types can be found in Canada.
Metamorphic Rocks  A rock that is subjected to heat and pressure.  They may be formed simply by being deep beneath the Earth's surface.  Being formed.

Watch Video What are rocks? Rock is a compact mass of mineral matter.
The Rock Cycle Objective: Student will identify and classify the characteristics of the rock cycle by the end of the lesson.
The Rock Cycle Learning Goal: I can identify common rock types and the processes that formed them.
Rocks. Rocks  Rocks are solid earth materials formed from a mixture of minerals and sometimes other materials. Rocks are classified into one of three.
8GH The Rock Cycle and weathering. Sedimentary rocks What are the three types of weathering? How can rock particles be moved in erosion? What happens.

Weathering, Erosion, and The Rock Cycle MCAS Bootcamp:

Random Fact: How deep can sunlight penetrate through clean ocean water? ~240 Feet

Igneous Rock Formed from cooled lava/magma. Can come from a volcano or when the top of the mantle cools. Ex: Granite, Basalt, Pumice

Sedimentary Rock Formed when rock and plant sediments are deposited and compacted together over long periods of time. Ex: Limestone, Shale, Sandstone Weathering: Breaking down of rock through wind, ice, heat, water, etc. Erosion: Carrying away weathered rock through wind, water, gravity, etc.

Metamorphic Rock When rock is put under intense heat and pressure underground it transforms. Formed from any of the 3 types of rock. Ex: Slate, Marble, Schist
