Gases Review Activity

Objectives – Today I will be able to: Apply knowledge of gas laws to answering Kahoot questions Create a 6 question gas law quiz and correctly solve the problems Informal assessment – monitoring student interactions and questions as they complete the kahoot and write gas law questions Formal assessment – analyzing student responses to the kahoot, quiz answer key and exit ticket Common core connection – Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them – Reason abstractly and quantitatively

Lesson Sequence Evaluate: Warm Up Engage: Gases Kahoot Explain/Elaborate: Create a Quiz Activity Evaluate: Exit Ticket

Warm Up Write an explanation you could give to someone absent explaining how you know when to use the combined vs. ideal vs. Dalton’s law to solve a gas law problem

Objectives Today I will be able to: – Apply knowledge of gas laws to answering Kahoot questions – Create a 6 question gas law quiz and correctly solve the problems

Homework Finish designing quiz questions and making the answer key Study for gases exam on Thursday, April 30

Agenda Warm Up Gas Law Kahoot Create a quiz Exit Ticket

Gas Law Kahoot Take everything off of your desk except for your electronic device. Log in to kahoot.it and type in the access code

Create a Quiz Activity Goal: Create a 6 question gas law quiz with an answer key. Purpose: This is an effective review strategy

Directions Write 6 gas law problems for the class to solve. Write one question for each type of problem that we have worked so far. One question should be Boyle’s Law, Charles’ Law, Gay- Lussac’s Law, Ideal Gas Law, Combined Gas Law and Dalton’s Law. Questions can be modeled off of problems worked in class but cannot be copied. Be sure to shuffle the problems into a random order. Write an answer key on the back of the worksheet. All work, units and sig figs must be written.

Exit Ticket Dalton’s Law Review – A flask contains atm nitrogen and 435 torr oxygen. What is the total pressure of the flask?
