Subject-Verb Agreement Using the correct form of the conjugated verb

How do I conjugate a verb of the 1 st group? I use the infinitive. How will I recognize the infinitive? Its the form of the verb that ends in –ER. Example: danser = to dance

DANSER I cut off the –ER which gives me DANS. This is the base of the verb. Now I use SUBJECT PRONOUNS AND THE CORRECT ENDINGS. What are SUBJECT PRONOUNS? Je,tu,il,elle,on,nous, vous, ils, elles What are the correct endings? -e,-es,-e,-e,-e,-ons, -ez, -ent

Heres how it looks: Je dansenous dansons Tu dansesvous dansez Il danseils dansent Elle danseelles dansent On danse

OK. So I know this. What am I supposed to do with this information? ANSWER: Use it to make sure that the SUBJECT of your sentence agrees with the form of the VERB you use. SAY WHAT? Heres an example. I like chocolate. Jaime le chocolat. I use aime because thats what you have to use with Je.

Yeah, I know that! But did you know that when you use nouns instead of the subject pronouns you have to choose the correct form of the verb as well? This is what I mean. Charles plays football. Which form of the verb jouer should I use?

Whats that you say? Youre not sure? Well, heres how to decide…………… Substitute a pronoun for the noun. In this case………the noun is Charles. I need to substitute that noun with which pronoun? HE? Which subject pronoun is that in French?

Did you say …………..IL? Good! IL aime jouer au football. How about another one? Marie and I like to dance. Which subject pronoun will we choose?

Did you say …………………….NOUS? Good! Nous aimons danser. Try again………… Pierre et Henri like to listen to the radio.

Which subject pronoun did you choose? Did you say ………………They? Good! Are they boys, girls, or a mixed group? Boys you say? Which subject pronoun will we choose in French?

Did you say……………..ILS? Wonderful! Ils aiment écouter la radio. Time for you to try some on your own. Here you go……………………….
