My Top Ten Brit Foods
Great Yarmouth Fisherman town On the East coast In the County of Norfolk
As G.Y is near the sea the main dishes are fish based… In Britain most food is also based on potatoes and meat ( chicken, turkey, beef, pork, lamb)
#10 COTTAGE PIE Is a really delicious main course It’s minced beef seasoned with herbs, carrots, onion and salt. On top of the meat is a thick layer of mashed potatoes and cheese which melts when it goes in the oven! Yum!
#9 PORRIDGE Oats cooked in milk are a really good way to start the day! I like mine with brown sugar or a banana
#8 BAKED BEANS ON TOAST beans in a tomato sauce…just great on toast! Bread in the U.K. comes in a packet and it’s already sliced, infact there is a saying “the best thing after sliced bread”
The Seafront near my house
#7 FISH & CHIPS If you ever visit the U.K. You’ve got to try Fish and Chips. You can get it at the local fish and chip shop, there’s one on nearly every corner! Usually it’s served wrapped in newspaper
# 6 CHIPS OFF THE MARKET Where I come from there is a big market and here you can find loads of chip saloons which sell the best chips! Try a cone of chips for 75p with salt and vinager
#5 YORKSHIRE PUDDINGS A Roast Dinner is a Sunday lunch classic. It’s also what we eat on special occasions. There’s meat, mashed potatoes, vegetables and yorkshire pudddings all covered in gravy!
#4 COFFEE WITH MILK I love coffee…a coffee lasts me about half an hour. I drink it all the time. In the U.K. People usually drink tea with milk.
#3 SAUSAGE ROLLS Sausage Rolls are a great option for a quick lunch or to eat on the streat. It’s a bit unhealthy but it’s good and cheap!
#2 MINCE PIES At Christmas Mince Pies are the best thing to look forward to…a part from presents of course!
