A consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. 117 National Committees and 31 International Committees dedicated to various museum specialties. A leading force in ethical matters. One of the founding members of the International Committee of the Blue Shield (ICBS). 3 official languages: English, French and Spanish. ICOM NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF ARMENIA (since 2008) INTERNATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM THE BRITISH MUSEUM –

ICOM National Committee of Armenia is an authorized representative of ICOM. The committee was founded in It has more than 70 individual and 3 institutional members. Since foundation in cooperation with Ministry of Culture of Armenia, Association of Museum Workers and Friends NGO, Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education (dvv International Armenian branch), ICOM committees, UNESCO and All Armenian Fund, ICOM National Committee of Armenia implemented different projects concerning museum marketing, capacity building, exchange programs etc. More than 20 trainings were organized in cooperation with international experts. The UNESCO/ICOM Capacity-Building Training for the Museum Specialists of the Republic of Armenia on Museum Management took place in Yerevan The Training was arranged by four Armenian museums, including the National Art Gallery of Armenia, “Erebuni” Historico-Archaeological Museum-Reserve, Museum of History of the City of Yerevan, Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian National Commission for UNESCO.

ICOM National Committee of Armenia organized training on “Museum Marketing and Branding” for 25 Armenian museum professionals in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Armenia at the National Gallery of Armenia. International experts were invited to run the training; Lyndel King ( ICOM expert, director of Weitsmann Art Museum) Shelly Regan (Director of Yamamoto Advertisement Agency)

Cooperation between ICOM Armenia and International Committees The Coordinator of UMAC in Armenia Marine Mkrtchyan organized a round table discussions between the directors of University museums in Armenia and representative of ICOM/UMAC Lyndel King in 2010 in Yerevan. As a result of these activities a workshop “PR in University and Academic Museums” will be organized with Cooperation of ICOM/MPR (Marjo-Riitta Saloniemi), ICOM/UMAC (Hugues Dreysee) and ICOM Armenia in Yerevan in October 2014

ICOM National Committee of Armenia hosted the Annual Conference of ICOM International Committee of Education and Cultural Action (CECA). This International Meeting is intended to become a special platform for discussing theoretical and practical issues on different types of texts in the museums on international level. A text is a basic source of information transferred to the user through a museum exposition, education programme, book, new technologies, and internet/social media etc. ICOM CECA Annual Conference 2012

Association of Museum Workers and Friends NGO The NGO was founded in October Members from about 50 different museums of different regions in Armenia are involved in this organization. The aim of the organization is to set up an active systematic net for solving the museum problems and for developing the museum work in accordance with today’s needs. The Association organizes educational courses, advisory and expert services, cultural and art conferences, seminars, business and investigational programs.

In the framework of the International day of museums a special project organized for people with mental disabilities and reduced mobility in the Gafesjian center for the arts in Yerevan. The choir with reduced mobility ‘Paros’ came out with concert. The Ministry of Culture and the President of National Assembly of Armenia were present during the opening ceremony. The Association and ICOM Armenia have had a meeting in the National Assembly of Armenia to discuss the main problems in the field trying to find a solutions.One of the most important issues with politicians to discuss and accept the law օn museums 2011 – The representative of the Association participated in the meeting held in the Municipality of Yerevan for discussing most relevant issues related to this field.« Social and Public Activities

The Association of Museum Workers and Friends with the cooperation of the All Armenian Fund support the regional museums with technical equipments. Since 2008 more then 70 museums have got new computers.

Objectives and results  Overall objective I To enhance intercultural dialogue and promote the notion of cultural and ethnic diversity, in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia, on a local, regional and transnational level through adult education  Specific objective: To achieve capacity building of staff of cultural and learning institutions in the Caucasus Region and Russia. This will be done by making use of key concepts of adult education, transferring museums into active spaces of Lifelong Learning  Estimated results 1. Professionalism and intercultural competence of Museums is enhanced  2. Museums are engaged more actively in the social learning and inclusion processes - dialogue will be enhanced at community level  3. Exchange and collaboration is established and developed with EU and within the Region  4. Cultural diversity of Caucasus and Russia is better known
