Lamotrigine What is this leaflet for? This leaflet is to help you understand more about your medicine. Your medicine could look different to the pictures on this leaflet. Lamotrigine is also called Lamictal Lamotrigine is available in tablet form. What is Lamotrigine used for? Lamotrigine is commonly used in epilepsy and manic depression. It is also used in: People having difficult behaviours People feeling tense or angry

Lamotrigine What will Lamotrigine do? Lamotrigine will help to control your fits Lamotrigine will help you feel calm and relaxed. It could take some time for Lamotrigine to have its full effect. What are the side effects of Lamotrigine? Side effects are the unwanted effects of any medicine on the body. Not everyone taking a medicine will get side effects. Many side effects will go away with time. But some side effects may last for longer. Some side effects can be serious. You should tell your doctor if you have any side effect.

Lamotrigine Side effects of Sodium Lamotrigine are: Having a rash which can be serious Fever Feeling sick Diarrhoea Headache Feeling dizzy Having shaken in the hands Feeling sleepy Unable to see clearly It can also very rarely cause: Problems with the liver Fits to get worse Suicidal ideation Problems in your blood

Lamotrigine If you are pregnant do not take this medication. Taking this medication can harm the baby in your tummy. If you are breast feeding your baby a lot of this medication will be in your breast milk which may harm your baby.

Lamotrigine How and when do I take Lamotrigine? The label on your Lamotrigine packet should tell you when and how much to take. If you forget to take your medicine Tell your carer or doctor straight away. When to stop taking your medicine You should carry on taking your medicine unless your doctor asks you to stop.

Lamotrigine Some medicines do not work well together. You should tell your doctor about any other medicines you are taking. What else do I need to know about Lamotrigine? Drinking alcohol when you are on Lamotrigine could make you feel sleepy. Doctor’s comments +
