easyCBM Math Progress Monitoring and EXCEED Name Date

Learning Objective Learning Intention: Success Criteria: We are learning how to identify baselines in order to progress monitor Math interventions using easyCBM and EXCEED. Success Criteria: We will be successful when we can return to our classrooms and navigate easyCBM in order to progress monitor my intervention students and successfully get data onto EXCEED.

How well do you know easyCBM? 0- I have never seen that word before 1- 2- 3- 4- 5- I have consistent dreams about it

Today’s Agenda Set –up student groups on easyCBM for intervention purposes Review how to select most appropriate probe for setting baseline/math interventions. Create progress monitoring plan on EXCEED using a template and add scores.

Click on the “E” for easyCBM Getting Started Click on the “E” for easyCBM

Getting Started http://mps.wi.easycbm.com Login using your district username Your initial password is: welcome1

Selecting Students to Start Go to the Students tab or link Once you type in your User Name and Password, you will see this screen. Here, you can see the different tabs in the site: Home, which is where we are right now, a Students tab, which shows you the student rosters the district has listed for you, a Measures tab, which is where you will enter benchmark scores and access and activate the progress monitoring measures, a Reports tab, which is where you will go to see how students are doing on their assessments, and an Account tab where you can edit your own account information. There’s also a link to a section where testers can learn how to administer and score the measures. We’re going to start with the Students tab, then move our way through the rest.

Selecting Students to Start Now select Teacher/Student Setup. As a building level user you will be creating groups for testing or data purposes. District users will need to click on their building

Selecting Students to Start If you are a district user – You need to click on the link “Show district-level users Scroll down the page until you see the list of teacher names Click on your name Then click on a grade level to show student names Student Names

Selecting Students to Start Pick a grade level and then click by the name of each student you want to progress monitor Continue choosing grade levels and students until all students you want to monitor have been checked. Student Names

Selecting Students to Start When you return to the “My Students” tab you will see that you have the names in the group “All Students”. You will now be able to select students for specific groups. Student Names

The Simple Guide to Selecting Students Login in and Go to Students Tab Go to Teacher/Student set-up Select YOUR NAME, and select all appropriate grade levels (select all students) Go back to My Students, under All Students you should see every student you selected

Creating Groups To create a specific group of students for progress monitoring purposes you will need to click “Add Group” on the My Students Page. Once you have clicked Add Group you will need to identify a title for your group. Once you have entered a title click Ok. Student Names

Creating Groups Click on your new group (demo2) to begin adding students. Make sure that the group you wish to add students to is highlighted. All students will be deselected at this time. You will need to click on the students you want to add to this group. You may add or delete students at any time Student Names

Group Names Recommendations Name group based on the intervention If you have a very small number of students that are all in different interventions or taking different grade level probes, name the groups with the student name

The Simple Guide to Creating Groups Click Add Group and Give Group a Title Select students for the group by clicking student names

are Available in Spanish!! Administering Probes The group is now created. To test students in a particular group you will now navigate to the Measures Tab. Then, click on the Progress Monitoring tab if it does not automatically go there. All Math Assessments are Available in Spanish!!

Selecting Most Appropriate Probe for Setting Baseline Scenario 1: If students has taken the easyCBM Math Benchmark as Universal Screener and has been identified for Math intervention through the screening process, teacher should… Next Step: Administer easyCBM current grade level (or adjusted grade level) probe that aligned to the first math intervention focus to begin to determine which grade level to intervene (handout). Find percentile of probe score: Path 1: above the 50th percentile, doesn’t support need for intervention in that area Path 2: between the 10th and 50th percentile, use the probe percentile score as baseline Path 3: below the 10th percentile, use lower level probe in first math intervention focus area (handout), making adjustments until the student is scoring between the 10th and 50th percentile, use the probe percentile score as baseline.

Selecting Most Appropriate Probe for Setting Baseline Scenario 2: If students has taken the Math MAP as Universal Screener and has been identified for Math intervention through the screening process, teacher could… Administer easyCBM current grade level Benchmark assessment (Example: CCSS Math 3*_fall**) to begin to determine which grade level to intervene and administer probe aligned to the first math intervention focus (handout). *depends on grade of student **depends the time of the year OR Use the RIT score from MAP to guide them in which grade level to intervene and administer probe aligned to the first math intervention focus (handout)

Selecting Most Appropriate Probe for Setting Baseline Cont. Next Step: Administer easyCBM current grade level (or adjusted grade level) probe that aligned to the first math intervention focus to begin to determine which grade level to intervene (handout).

Additional Detailed Report from Benchmark Pros and Cons Pro –we can see which students need help in which domain! Pro – organized by domains! Con – each question is individual instead of a summary per student

Online Progress Monitoring click here for the on-line option This area will pop up and you will be able to select the group

The Simple Guide to using Progress Monitoring Probes Go to Measurements Tab Select grade level and probe from appropriate measure Click “Take Test Online” or “Enter Scores”, then select the group to take the test

The easyCBM assessments Getting Students Started The progress monitoring assessments available on easycbm were developed using Item Response Theory (IRT), a state-of-the-art statistical procedure (the same stats used by the makers of the SAT, the GRE, and most major large-scale assessments). IRT differs from classical statistical approaches in that it involves much more complex mathematics, simultaneously estimating the ability of the student and the difficulty of each item based on the pattern of responses across all items taken by all students. Have Student Enter the Site Here

Student View Have the student enter the teacher’s username here Teacher Name Have the student enter the teacher’s username here

Student View Students will then select their group, name, and test. Please verify that the student logged in is the student taking the test. Student Name

The Simple Guide to Students Using easyCBM Go to the portal, click on students, then EasyCBM Enter your teacher's user name and click "Go" A series of drop down menus will appear. Select your group, name and test. The test will appear and be ready to take immediately.

Use the summarized version! (handout) Math Plans on Exceed After taking a Progress Monitoring probe, you will get a score Score must be converted to a percentile, the percentile is the baseline. Look at document “Detailed Percentile Table” Found in easyCBM under REPORTS tab, Assessment TLC, or MPS RtI/PBIS website OR Use the summarized version! (handout) (RECOMMENDED) Also found on the MPS RtI/PBIS website

Math Plans on Exceed – converting scores into percentiles First, click Reports tab. Then click on Detailed Percentiles Table used to find percentile for baseline

Math Plans on Exceed – converting scores into percentiles Use the content page as a guide Score Percentile Table reads from left to right.

Creating EXCEED Plans Student names that have been identified for academic intervention Student’s area of need have been ‘diagnosed’ Student should have a baseline score ready to be entered (For easyCBM, target is always 50

Frequency of Progress Monitoring A easyCBM probe for Math is used every 10th intervention session with the student For Math, you will use Odyssey Assessment every 5th intervention session when easyCBM is not used to progress monitor Not entered Odyssey data into Exceed as a data point, can be entered as a note on Exceed

SLD Progress Monitoring must occur and be documented AT GRADE LEVEL and needs to occur every week. For Math- an alternative CBM (alternative progress monitoring) must be used every week whenever easyCBM is not being used School Psychs have received training on what these are (ie- a 40 problem test on 3 digit division)
