Digital Library Access OSPI assigns District Assessment Coordinators a user role through: Administration and Registration Tools (ART) ◦ ONLY for Digital Library access in WA ◦ District Coordinators add Digital Library users OR ◦ District creates School Coordinators and delegates DL User account creation to school.

Digital Library Basics Educators have access to all of the instructional and professional learning resources for each grade band (Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12). There will be resources that educators can share or use with students and families, but students and families will not be able to access materials directly. All resources will have the formative assessment process embedded within them. But the Digital Library WILL NOT be a “bank” of formative assessment items alone. All submitted materials will be vetted through a Quality Criteria Review Process by reviewers across the nation. Each resource will be reviewed and rated by at least 3 trained educators If resources do not meet the quality criteria, they will not be included in the library Page 10

Digital Library Functionality Enables State Networks of Educators and State Leadership Teams to submit, review, and publish resources Allows educators to view, download, and rate resources Uses state-of-the-art tagging and search to quickly find resources by CCSS and other topics Enables educators from across the Consortium to collaborate and share their knowledge Facilitates access to resources that are stored in participating libraries Illustrativ e Slide 11

Resources in the Digital Library * Resources include the following file types: Video, HTML5, Audio, PPT, Excel, Word, and PDF. Commissioned professional development modules Resources for students and families Frame formative assessment within a balanced assessment system Articulate the formative assessment process Highlight formative assessment practices and tools Commissioned professional development modules Instructional materials for educators Instructional materials for students High-quality vetted instructional resources and tools for educators High-quality vetted resources and tools for students and families Reflect and support the formative process Reflect and support the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and English Language Arts Create Professional Learning Communities Assessment Literacy Modules Exemplar Instructional Modules Education Resources Page 12 Demonstrate/support effective implementation of the formative process Focus on key content and practice from the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and English Language Arts

Digital Library: Collaboration

Components of the Smarter Balanced Assessment System. Summative Interim Formative

What are the Interim Assessments? Two Options: ◦ Interim Comprehensive Assessment ◦ Interim Assessment Blocks Available at grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and high school Administered at teacher’s discretion, including using off grade-level Scoring ◦ Selected Response immediately ◦ Short-Text by teacher through a Rubric training. What is the difference between the two options?

Interim Assessments Will… Interim assessments will: provide educators with actionable information about student progress. The interim assessments will: help teachers, students, and parents understand whether students are on track, and identify strengths and limitations in relation to the Common Core State Standards;

Interim Assessment Components Interim Assessment Interim Comprehensive Assessment (ICA) Interim Assessment Blocks (IAB)

Comprehensive VS Blocks Interim Comprehensive Assessment (ICA)Interim Block(s) Assessment (IBA) Full replication of summative assessment Available at grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and high school Administered at teachers discretion Scoring Selected Response – Immediate Results Short-Text Answers – Scored by teacher through rubric training Assesses targeted areas Available at grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and high school Administered at teachers discretion Scoring Selected Response – Immediate Results Short-Text Answers – Scored by teacher through rubric training

SBAC Assessment Data Access OSPI assigns District Assessment Coordinators a user role through: Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) ◦ For all AIR applications ◦ Interims and Summative ◦ District Coordinators create School Coordinators; School Coordinator adds Test Administrators ◦ Test Administrators are teachers/proctors Resources for Creating User Accounts: ◦ Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) user guide and module

Student Records  Schools Must Roster Students in TIDE or ORS  ORS only rosters students one by one; TIDE has roster upload function;  Can happen before or after admin, but must be done for TAs to get scores from ORS  Rostering requires that staff be in TIDE  Resources for rostering:  Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) user guide and module  ORS user guide and module

How to Roster Students in ORS

How to Download/Upload a roster

Administration Administer Assessment ◦ Test Delivery System ◦ TA Logs into TA interface through Portal site creates a session ◦ Students log in through secure browser; TA approves students as they log in ◦ Guides and Training Modules: ◦ Test Administrator Online System Interface Module (available) ◦ Student Testing Interface Training Module (in progress, but there are practice and training tests) ◦ Smarter Balanced Test Administration Manual (under review) TA Certification Course (Will be available soon)

Scoring Score Constructed Response Items ◦ Teacher Hand Scoring System (THSS) available now ◦ Teacher/Scorer logs into THSS through Portal Site and scores ◦ Rubrics live inside THSS ◦ Training Module: Teacher Hand Scoring System Training Module (under review)
