Connectivity Packages

Connectivity package overview A collection of software and information related to a specific IED (Intelligent Electronic Device), providing means for system products and tools to connect and interact with the IED’s. Main benefits: ABB: Development and release independency between IED’s and system/tool products while maintaining a high integration level Customer: Ease and simplify the engineering process System & tools utilizing the connectivity package: COM 610 SPA ZC-40x (IEC 61850/SPA gateway) MicroSCADA Pro: SYS 600 and COM 500

Content of a Connectivity Package Description of IED functionality and capabilities Object Types for device integration. These object types defines the properties for device related object, e.g. the protocols that are supported by the IED IED specific visual elements e.g. object icon, graphical symbols, faceplates, etc.

Connectivity Package Delivery The connectivity packages are delivered free of charge from the following locations: Internet download - ABB Library - http://www.abb.com/substationautomation under each IED product (e.g. REF 543 under downloads/software ) CE Engineering database

Connectivity Package Releases The first first connectivity packages are released for the products Connectivity Package for REF 541/543/545 rev. 3.0 (SPA and LON) Connectivity Package for REM 543/545 rev. 2.5 (SPA and LON) The range of supported IED’s, systems and tools as well as functionality of connectivity packages will be expanded as the project goes on

Usage in tools and systems COM 610 Connectivity Packages are used for configuring COM 610 to communicate and interact with SPA- and LON -devices (note: one option is also to use COM 610 via IEC 61850 to SPA-device that uses SPA-ZC 40x) SPA-ZC 40x Connectivity Packages are used for configuring SPA-ZC 40x (used protocols are SPA and IEC 61850). Combination of SPA-ZC 40x and COM 610 is also supported as mentioned above. SYS 600 and COM 500 Connectivity Packages are used for configuring IEC 61850 OPC server (usually done by importing the export-file generated from configuration of SPA-ZC 40x)
