Presentation transcript:

 Like War Photographer, this poem depicts someone who has conflicting emotions.  In Originally, the persona wants to integrate but is also very conscious of what she has lost and feels her memories slipping away  In War Photographer, the photographer treats his work professionally but is plagued by traumatic memories.  They also have a similar structure - 24 lines that can be split into three sections of eight, exploring different stages in the poet's exploration of themes.  The theme of memory is also vital to Havisham and Anne Hathaway.  Whereas the persona in Originally has no choice about leaving home, in the latter poem the persona must move on but also misses what she has left behind in the ‘spinning world’ that was the ‘second best bed’
