Helsinki, July 2006 New approaches towards enhanced sustainability, deployment and forecasting of community funded projects SPI - Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação InnoUniLearning Project Coordinator by Andreas Meiszner

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Sustainability, Deployment and Forecasting "What I worry about much more is our ability to make the necessary cultural changes to meet the new demands of the digital native." Rupert Murdoch, “To me, the challenge is not awareness, the challenge is engagement," John Hayes, CMO, American Express Harley Davidson relinquished control of its brand to its biker community, with overwhelmingly positive results. Mark Blaxill, senior vice president, Boston Consulting Group

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Sustainability, Deployment and Forecasting What makes some projects more successful than others? Clearly understand target group needs Involve target group in all relevant activities Seek regular feedback and provide updates Foster openness and interaction Establish the critical mass to create strong communities

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Sustainability, Deployment and Forecasting

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Sustainability, Deployment and Forecasting

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Sustainability, Deployment and Forecasting

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Sustainability, Deployment and Forecasting And in the “real” world? Consumer power – growth of consumer communities See-through companies – increased transparency in business Your customers want to work for you – co-creation at work

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Sustainability, Deployment and Forecasting How could this benefit Community funded projects? Impacts: Allows the embedding of projects in large and well established open frameworks Facilitates tracing, comparison and discussion on projects – even before they are completed Generates dynamic content, not static, which can easily be further developed Increases the benefits for the target group, since the target group is involved to a higher degree And further enhances sustainability, allowing a better forecasting of future needs

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Sustainability, Deployment and Forecasting Recommendations Strategically support: Development of open and large NoEs and CoPs - Is a narrow group of experts really all we need? Copyleft instead of Copyright, where appropriate, to foster the reuse and improvement of earlier achieved results - don’t reinvent the wheel Open and inclusive project structures - e.g. publish early / seek early feedback Consolidation of the fragmented virtual European landscape of (EC funded) projects & outcomes - bundle strength and create synergies

InnoUniLearning – The Fostering of Innovative eLearning Strategies in Higher Education Thank you for your attention!
