Design Elements of a Web Page

Focal Point Each page should have a focal point to attract the viewer. This can be one large picture or a headline, a combination of both, or sometimes a logo. Strong Color or Placement: isolation, contrast, size, etc.

Web Page Considerations I People scan sites quickly and without fear of error. Sites should simplify the tasks users most likely wish to accomplish.

Web Page Considerations II Page should (usually) avoid too much clutter. Colors and text styles should be consistent from page to page Navigation links should be well chosen, be descriptive, and be consistent. Horizontal scrolling is discouraged. Vertical scrolling should be limited.

Web Page Considerations III Logos are frequently seen at the top or left-top of the page. Images and text should complement each other: not be “lined up” Background colors and images should not interfere with overall readability.
