St. James the Great St. James the Great Episcopal Church embraces Christ’s teachings as a way of life, and is creatively building a 21st-century vision-driven, inclusive, relevant and dynamic spiritual community whose mission is spreading the Gospel to the world. Sold! To the dismay and disappointment of the parishioners of St. James the Great, the L.A. Diocese has chosen to sell the Lido area property to a real estate developer. In an era where church attendance and membership is dying, we have created something unique with our spiritual community and journey and we’d like to see it continue to develop and grow. We have engaged with the local community in significant ways, for example providing people with a “safe space to meet God” through helping a culinary start-up, feeding people at the O.C. Rescue Mission, helping mothers re-engage with the working world, and creating opportunities for skill development through holycoding.org.
