What is “Calibration”? Calibration is the process by which managers compare and potentially adjust the Performance Ratings of their respective staff members to ensure sufficient differentiation in employee performance levels across the enterprise Calibration is a fundamental component for “Focal” processes Calibration requires managers to be knowledgeable about their employee contributions and use them as the basis for their proposed performance ratings, while remaining open-minded to the views and inputs of others
