Specification of IT Systems Mandatory Exercise Week 2

Assignment 1.Make a mission statement for your system. Describe how you arrived at your mission statement. 2.Make a goal tree for your system. 3.Make three different function refinement trees for your system. Describe the structure of each three and make a comparison of pros and cons of each suggestions. 4.Make a service description for three service, which your systems support. 5.For each of (1), (2), (3) and (4) above, discuss how well your solution corresponds with the contents, structure, guidelines, etc which is given in [Wieringa] (the course book). 6.Describe the connection beween your mission statement, goal tree, function refinement trees and service descriptions.

Exercise 1 - Misson Statement Name: Servicemen Workflow System Acronym: SWS Purpose: To support manageable and effective distribution of work items Composition: SWS consist of a (some) main server(s) that runs the system. It is accessible through HTTP and WAP. The servicemen uses high end mobile phones to access the server. Responsibilities:  To support creation and management of work items  To support servicemen planning of work items  To support distribution of unassigned work items  To support feedback of incomplete work items Exclusion:  The system will not handle the inventory of parts

Exercise 2 - Goal Tree

Exercise 3 - Function Refinement Trees (1)

Exercise 3 - Function Refinement Trees (2)

Exercise 3 - Function Refinement Trees (3)

Exercise 4 - Service Descriptions (1) Name: Deadline notification. Triggering event: Two hours until a work item ユ s deadline. Delivered service: The serviceman receives a text message stating that the deadline is approaching. Assumptions: The mobile phone of the serviceman is online and working properly.

Exercise 4 - Service Descriptions (2) Name: Change attributes of active work item. Triggering event: User request to change a work item’s attributes. Delivered service: If the work item is claimed by a serviceman, he is notified of this by a text message, otherwise it is simply changed. The user will receive an acknowledgement that the change is committed. Assumptions: The mobile phone of the serviceman is online is working properly. The user has privileges to change the work item.

Exercise 4 - Service Descriptions (3) Name: Delete work item. Triggering event: The administrator request to delete a work item. Delivered service: If the work item is claimed the serviceman is notified of this, otherwise it is simply removed from the system. Also, the creator of the work item is notified of the deletion. Assumptions: The servicemen always signal when they start and stop handling a work item.
