Reference Types: Books How to find the item: Search the Library Catalogue for author(s)/editor(s) and/or words from the title in the Any (field) Check the E-Books page of the library website or the Digital Library (e.g. via Ebrary) Key elements:

Reference Types: Chapters in Books How to find the item: Search the Library catalogue for author(s)/editor(s) of the book and/or words from the title of the book NOT the author(s)/editor(s) and title of the chapter. Use the Any (field) search. Check the E-Books page of the library website or the Digital Library (e.g. via Ebrary) Key elements:

Reference Types: Journal Articles How to find the item: Search the Library Catalogue for the title of the journal. Use the ‘Journal Title’ search. Check the holdings information to see if the date that you require is held by the library. Use the ‘Find e-journal’ search in the Digital Library to search for the name of the journal Key elements:

Common Abbreviations ibid is an abbreviation of the Latin term ibidem and means 'the same as the preceding reference' op cit is an abbreviation of the Latin opere citato and means in the work cited. Look back in the list for full publication details which have already been given. et al is a Latin abbreviation meaning 'and others' and is used when there are more than two authors or editors

Common Problems 1. I can’t find the book on the Library catalogue Check spelling, try other searches, Ask at the Enquiries Desk 2. My reading list indicates the location number but the book is not there… Check: Due Date (Reserve if required), other collections, location number etc. Ask at the Enquiries Desk 3.
