Shanghai Jiao Tong University 16 Products with UG/Software

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 17 UG Modules Modeling Shape Studio Drafting Manufacturing Assemblies Sheet Metal Routing Simulation

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 18 Modeling UG software is primarily a solid modeling system. This module can help a design engineer quickly perform conceptual design.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 19 Shape Studio Lets you create a realistic image by shading it. Unigraphics users often quick shade the part to be sure they are looking at it correctly.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 20 Drafting lets you create drawings, views, geometry, dimensions, and drafting annotations necessary for the completion of a drawing.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 21 Manufacturing allows you to interactively create NC machining programs, generate toolpaths, visualize material removal, and postprocess.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 22 Assemblies Product model A team-oriented design system Assemblies directly reference component master models. Parametric Assemblies by using Mating condition.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 23 Simulation perform finite element analysis on models, and create multiple "scenarios" to analyze the effects of various design modifications on the finite element model. give you a basic understanding of the Scenario for Structures concept and functionality.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 28 Main Menu_File Manage UG part files New Open Close Save Print

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 29 Main Menu_File The name of the part is displayed in the title bar of the graphics area. If you are working with assemblies, you can display a part of an assemble file. If you are working with assemblies, you can work on a part file of a assemble file for creating and editing operations.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 30 File_save or close When the word "Modified" (in parentheses) appears in the title bar of the graphics window, you know that you have made changes to the part that have not yet been saved. After a part is saved, the Status line will say "Part file saved", and the word "Modified" will be removed from the graphics area window title bar.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 31 Main Menu_preferences

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 32 Tools_Expression When an object is created in Unigraphics, expressions (i.e., equations) are created by the system, describing information about the object's size, location, and other information. You can also create expressions yourself, and then use the names of the expressions in place of actual values as you create geometry. Later, you can change the values of the expressions and the part will automatically update.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 33 Insert Modeling Drafting

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 34 Coordinate System A coordinate system determines location and orientation in modeling space. All coordinate systems in Unigraphics are right-hand rule coordinate systems.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 35 Coordinate System The Absolute Coordinate System (ACS) is the coordinate system from which all objects are referenced.(fixed) “Existing coordinate system" (CSYS) can be used to return to a specific location and orientation in modeling space. The Work Coordinate System (WCS) is the one you will use for construction when you want to determine orientations and angles of features as you build your solid.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 36 Work Coordinate System The axes of the WCS are denoted XC, YC, and ZC. WCS-Origin…Defines a new WCS by redefining the origin of the current WCS.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 37 Work Coordinate System WCS-Rotates…Describes the new WCS as a rotation of the current WCS about one of its axes.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 38 Work Coordinate System WCS Display Toggles the display of the WCS ON and OFF. WCS Save Creates a coordinate system at the current WCS origin and orientation.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 39 CSYS Constructor The CSYS Constructor dialog gives you many different orientation methods. It appears when you choose WCS Orient or View Orient.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 40 Layer control Layers help you organize and manage data within a file. Every object in the database is located on one of 256 individual layers. Layers act as a filter to specify which objects are selectable, visible, or invisible. They can show different geometry in different views. Format/Layer Settings

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 41 Layer Settings

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 42 Selecting Features In Unigraphics, the word "feature" means associative object. Features include such things as blocks, holes, slots, pockets, blends, chamfers, and so on.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 43 Selecting Features If you select the prehighlighted object after the cursor tip is displayed, the QuickPick confirmation dialog is provided.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 44 Selection You can select Body, Face, Curve, Silhouettes (轮廓线), Edges (边缘), Vertex (顶点), etc. The ways of Selection: Single Selection, Multiple Selection, Rectangle/Polygon Selection, Chaining Selection (链接选 取), Class Selection (种类选择).

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 45 Class Selection

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 46 Class Selection

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 47 The Standard Views There are eight standard views available in every part Top Bottom Front Back Right Left TFR-ISO (Top/Front/Right Isometric) TFR-TRI (Top/Front/Right Trimetric)

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 48 The Standard Views The options on the View pull-down menu let you manipulate views in various ways. But the Right_button pop-up menu has many of these same options and is often more convenient to use.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University 49 Layout layouts are available. View/ Layout
