INDUSTRY FACILITY REQUIREMENTS  CP’s requirements for industry sidings is very location specific as opposed to “general rules”  General consideration - appropriate infrastructure must be contemplated to allow for efficient operations into and out of the facility and be constructed to CP and AREMA standards.  Areas of consideration –Carload versus Unit train facilities –Subdivision on which the industrial siding is located –Method of train control –Train type servicing siding (assignment versus through train) –OD pairs –Commodities handled through siding –Frequency of service 2

CARLOAD FACILITY CONSIDERATIONS  Ability to service facility clear of CP main track  Ability for progressive moves into and out of the facility by CP  “Hook and Haul” – inbound track, outbound track and locomotive escape track  Self-switch capability where applicable  Onsite car storage to accommodate surge volumes  AAR/RAC circular compliance i.e. setbacks (dependent on commodity/activity)  CP typically recommends facility’s engage a 3 rd party to assist in conceptual development drawings  Engineer progress drawings, stamped issued for construction and as-builts submitted for CP design review, stakeholder review and approval. 3

UNIT TRAIN FACILITY CONSIDERATIONS  Progressive moves into and out of the facility from either direction (wye)  Potential for power switches and derails  Loadout capability to contemplate power on model where practical  Ability to set off and cut in bad order / repaired cars  Ability for on-site locomotive fuelling  Ability to accommodate safety and mechanical inspections on site  Ability to accommodate train crews (report for work, tie up, receive train orders, clearances and GBO’s)  Ability to inbound extra train sets (avoidance of demurrage)  Engineer stamped final designs including progress drawings and as-builts 5
