IRON CONTENT OF PUTAMEN IMAGE RETREAT – 2005 by Bharani Krishnamurthy Graduate Research Assistant Dept of Biomedical Engg Wayne State University

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND INTERESTS Bachelor of Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engg University of Madras ( ) Master’s in Biomedical Engineering Wayne State University (current) Iron deposition of putamen T2* imaging BOLD and fMRI

Deposition of Iron in putamen Basic Study of the Alzheimer’s project involves the study of the deposition of iron in various areas in the brain like motor cortex, putamen, globus pallidus, caudate nucleus etc. My prime focus has been the deposition of iron and the pattern of mineralization in the putamen. Post processing of data from WSU and LLU is done and results inferred.

Globus pallidus Upper Putamen Lower Putamen Pattern of Mineralization

Reference Brain Mineralization with Age, Sheri L. Harder, MD, FRCPC Department of Medical Imaging University of Saskatchewan The pattern of mineralisation was already studied in T1 and T2 images. In the current study pattern is being observed with the SWI images.
