#SPEAKOUT

OVERSHOOT In population dynamics and population ecology, overshoot occurs when a population exceeds the long term carrying capacity of its environment. The consequence of overshoot is called a crash or die-off.

OVERPOPULATION OVERDEVELOPMENT OVERSHOOT

What is Earth’s CARRYING CAPACITY? It took only TWELVE YEARS to add ONE BILLION PEOPLE, from

Humanity’s ecological footprint is already AT LEAST 20 PERCENT BEYOND what the Earth can sustain. If we continue to live in ECOLOGICAL OVERSHOOT, these numbers will GROW. In the next 35 years, humanity will demand 3 TIMES the CURRENT RATE of resource consumption.

2.2 billion children in the world, 1 billion are growing up in poverty 41 million girls worldwide are still denied a primary education 1/3 of the world’s children under the age of five will die of nutrition related illnesses Every 3.6 seconds, someone in the world dies of starvation

“There is no way in the world we can forge a sustainable society without stabilizing the population.” – Gaylord Nelson #SPEAKOUT

#SPEAKOUT MISSION Speak Out will strengthen voices already advocating the dangers of overshoot, as well as recruit new voices Provide advocacy tools and encourage global sharing and participation Provide the book, OVER, to people and organizations who can be ambassadors of information Recruit personalized deliveries of OVER and Speak Out messages to policymakers and opinion leaders Bring international attention to the crises posed by population growth

#SPEAKOUT VISION A population that Earth’s resources can sustain achieved through a progressive human health and human rights agenda.

#SPEAKOUT VISION Improve the status of women and girls Provide all kids primary and secondary education Provide family planning information and services Create population, health, & environment programs Increase public discourse, campaigning, & activism

The alternative is too DEVASTATING #SPEAKOUT

And this not only saves the planet. These are human rights we should be providing anyway. #SPEAKOUT
