Google Chromebooks in Middle School Lynn Siebert – Grade 6 Math Tara O’Neill – Grade 7 Science Lincoln Middle School Meriden Public Schools

Initial Reactions to 1-to-1 devices Excited… Chrome “books” HELP! Logistics –getting used to it all –grading assignments –distribution and collection These reactions are normal for veteran and rookie teachers alike. We all share in the excitement and agony of change!

Now we feel… Constantly evolving. New and improved applications, and ways to integrate them into the classroom. No longer afraid of the learning process. We do not know it all! Confident in students’ abilities to evolve. Open to sharing with colleagues – new avenues for collaboration! Technology integration is the only option in preparing our students for the 21 st century.

Math Menus – Pick your meal! Appetizer – Reinforcements Students are able to pick their own meal. Those who need more help can grab an appetizer. Students who are excelling may move onto dessert.

Thinking Blocks Interactive software allows students to use 21 st century skills. Modeling, feedback and self- checks are available. More students are reached with less interruptions from whole- class discussion.
