Presentation transcript:

1 introduction FTK, which stands for Fast Tracker, is an upgrade for ATLAS detector aims to provide tracking information for level 2 trigger of ATLAS detector my task: design data formatter, which receives the data from level 1 trigger and sends them to appropriate processor units highly ATLAS-geometry-dependent

2 x (mm) y (mm) shows xy-plane (phi) of barrel region the inner three layers are pixel layers the outer four layers are SVT layers in FTK, have to separate phi into 8 regions (the separation is already determined) each region has to be further separated into 2 towers (will be determined by me and other DF people) the colorful lines shown are some MC-simulated tracks from region 2

3 what I am doing... understand how phi is separated into 8 regions use MC-simulated tracks to determine how each region should separated into 2 towers smaller tower, lower efficiency (more tracks lost) and lower workload for the broads bigger tower, higher efficiency (less tracks lost) and higher workload for the broads efficiency VS. workload of hardware!
