More people go on cruise ships than ever before.

In the past, when ships were sinking, the Captain ordered the crew to start loading passengers onto the lifeboats. The captain always ordered “women and children first”. Why do you think this was? According to some reports the order was given on the cruise ship that sank this weekend, but many men ignored it and pushed their way onto the lifeboats first. Do you think it is right to order “women and children first”? Would you have followed this order?

Some reports say that the captain left the ship before all the passengers and crew had been rescued. Traditionally a captain was supposed to ‘go down with the ship’. What do you think the captain should have done? Hear the Captain’s side of the story
